Now, let’s get into the details and explain precisely why Carrot Cottage is the best toy for destructive rabbits.

A picture of my rabbit watching TV to entertain himself

Let me assure you, watching TV won’t keep him entertained for long…

What kinds of Rabbit Toys are the best?

When I decided to get my little fluff monster rabbit toys to help prevent his destructive behaviour, I first thought about what he was actually doing to destroy things.

It didn’t take me long to realise that his methods of destruction could always be put into two categories:

  1. Chewing and Biting.
  2. Digging.

So I figured that the best kinds of rabbit toys to help prevent destructive bunny behaviour are those that help promote chewing and digging.

But…

There May Be An Exception to the Rule

I think I need to mention that despite finding and buying my little fluff monster tons of cool toys to keep his chewing and digging at bay, the little monster still chewing one thing he shouldn’t.

Wires (or spicy hay as he must think of them).

A rabbit eating a computer cable...and not a rabbit toy

If the little monster finds any wires, he just can’t help himself.

Thankfully, we’ve managed to hide the majority of the wires around the house, but not all. For those wires still exposed to potentially bunny destruction, we use PetCords and i can highly recommend them.

The Best Toy for Destructive Rabbit Behaviour

I do have a great list of awesome rabbit toys that will help entertain your little fluff monster, but I thought I’d cut to the chase and tell you which I (and more importantly my little fluff monster) thought was the best of the bunch.

My rabbit is Netherlands Dwarf. His name is Ron and he absolutely loves his Carrot Cottage.

Why Ron Loves It

He loves:

And Ron loving it isn’t the only reason I think this is the best Rabbit Toy either.

Why I Love It

I love it for different reasons:

And it’s not just Ron and me who love it either.

What Other People Are Saying About It

On Amazon, it’s averaging at 4.5 stars (out of 5) for 412 reviews. That’s a fantastic rating.

One verified customer left a glowing review of it too:

My bunny absolutely loves this! This is the second one we buy, and will keep on buying.

You can see that the product is all natural, no glue around! Is made of a simple card box, with hay on the walls and a carrot top.

This keeps my bunny entertained while we are out for work, he eats this until is completely gone.

He hides in it, sleeps in and on top of it, nibbles on it, he absolutely loves it.

It lasts way longer than any other toy we have purchased.

This almost beat the Carrot Cottage to the top spot. It was a very close second.

Why I Like It

It’s great because it’s

Why it’s Not Top of the List

If it’s that good, why isn’t it at the top of your list? You might ask.

Because it has one less feature than Carrot Cottage which made Ron like it less than Carrot Cottage: he can’t hide inside it.

Sure it more than satisfies its primary object: Ron can chew the hell out of it and it will last a long time. He can even jump on top of it.

But given the two, Ron always chooses the Carrot Cottage because he likes hiding inside it to chew.

What Other People Are Saying About It

On Amazon, it’s averaging at 4.5 stars (out of 5) for 244 reviews. That’s a great rating.

WOW!! I have a Netherland Dwarf and a Dwarf Lop and they’ve gone bonkers for these cubes, they’re on their 3rd now!, they love gnawing the grassy coating off first then they both make a joint effort of getting really stuck in like their life depends on it! they’ve both quite taken to ‘wearing’ them as they cram their heads right in and just continue to shuffle around in that mad manner! so I would definitely recommend these! very good value even if just for peace and sheer entertainment !!

Whilst the Chill-n-Chew Mat is primarily a rabbit toy to promote (you guessed it) chewing, it can also be used to satisfy your little monsters digging behaviour too.

Admittedly, Ron didn’t dig at his Chill-n-Chew Matt all that much, he mostly chewed it. But he did dig at it a little.

The Chill-n-Chew Mat comes a close third on my list of the best Rabbit Toys to prevent destructive behaviour list.

I like this rabbit toy because:

Why It’s Not on the Top of the List

I think the main thing that lets this toy down compared to the top two on the list is the fact that it’s not as durable as the others.

What Other People Are Saying About It

On Amazon, it’s averaging at 4.5 stars (out of 5) for 604 reviews. Wow. Just wow. That’s a great rating for that amount of reviews.

One reviewer said:

Our rabbits love nibbling. They aren’t fussy about what they gnaw on, but of course we do want to make sure that it isn’t going to cause them harm.

The rattan mat is ideal for this. We didn’t actually buy it for consumption, we thought it would be nice for them to have different textures to sit on and lie out on.

The rattan mats are an absolute hit. We were baffled when they started eating them but actually they really enjoy scrabbling around on it, gnawing at it, and when it’s reduced in size a little they can grab the edge of it in their teeth and toss it around.
